Movement and
Body Awareness

Mindful Moving

I have been evolving this class for more than 15 years. It began my desire to integrate all that I had learned as a teacher of the Alexander Technique, as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist with all that I had learned from teaching dance for over 40 years. The class is composed of two parts: Stretch & Integrate and Strengthen & Tone. The second part is an add-on that combines aspects of the GENTLE PILATES class I have offered for the last two years with influences from Dianne Woodruff’s 3-D Workout, the GYROTONIC®method and everything else I’ve ever studied!

Gyrokinesis®

The Gyrokinesis® Method is a movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is an original and unique method, which coordinates movement, breath and mental focus. The Gyrokinesis® Method is practised on a mat and chair, without equipment.

Dance

These modern dance classes emphasize body integration, ease of motion, rhythm and spatial clarity –– essential elements of any style of dance. In each session, we build a movement phrases and perform it as a group, but even in ZOOM sessions performed at home the process is fun and rewarding.

Gyrotonic® Method

I am in love with this work! I completed my certification in February 2016 and also completed a course on GYROTONIC® and Osteoporosis, Level II A and B training, and GYROKINESIS® coursework. The Gyrotonic® Method is an original and unique movement method that addresses the entire person by using specialized equipment to open energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and improving strength and movement efficiency. Carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility. GYROTONIC® is a registered trademark of Gyrotonic® Sales Corp and is used with their permission.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

A minor injury early in my dance career launched me into the bodywork world. I trained as an Alexander Technique teacher in the early 1980s and was introduced to Craniosacral Therapy soon after. My private practice gravitated more toward the CST work. These individual sessions involve gently palpating parts of the body beginning with the area at the base of the neck. The work is an amazing combination of subtle and powerful and the results from several sessions can be amazingly successful at reducing chronic pain or expanding range of movement.
